What's new?

Well, I've been thinking..... what about a good party in November? The date I've got in mind is the 17th.....

Something else; a few of us, along with some Aussies, have decided to help kids in Geelong and founded "The Gem foundation".

Who would like to be involved? We meet the 2nd Friday of each month at 7pm.

The boys are very busy building, planning but have never stopped playing!!
See the change there.... I will update as the changes take place.

2nd Annual Potjiekos competition

In March we had the 2nd competition - again very successful and lots of prizes were won - thanks to Kmart, Target and Dunklings.

Dereel - 2007

Another weekend camping! The farm, right in the middle of a state forest, belongs to Jaco and Louisa du Toit and they would like all South Africans to experience a little bit of South Africa in Australia. All welcome to join us there...

Dereel Bushcamping - December 2006

A quick stayover changed into a wonderful weekend and a magic New Year's evening!

Christmas 2006

We start a new fashion; "we are all family" and we celebrate together!!!

Wye River Weekend

A few families went to Wye River for a weekend.

Braai - Queenspark Geelong

Then a braai in October; cold windy day but with such good company everyone stayed and had a good time!

Sokkiejol

In August 2006 we had a very successful Sokkiejol in Geelong. People came from all over Victoria and even from NSW. 130 people attended and some stayed over at a Caravan park nearby.

1st annual Potjiekos Competition

In January 2006 we hosted our 1st annual Potjie Competition: It started off as a social event between a few families and we decided to extend the invitation, by word of mouth, to all ex-South Africans living in the region. We had a wonderful turnout - 76 people attended. As this was so successful we decided to have it as an annual event.

We are South Africans and we are thankfull to be here

I have made this Blog for all the South Africans living down under. Please leave your suggestions, experiences and comments. Share the good and the bad, funny or sad - we all know how difficult it was, and for some, still is. Maybe we can make a difference!
I hope to hear from you soon and enjoy this blog.
